Digital Waste Tracking for skip hire receiving yards

A skip returning to your yard brings a receiving job as well as a collection job. Connect what the Yard sees with the office review and the receipt-reporting process.

Free tailored demo. We confirm eligible site setup and supported scenarios before live reporting.

Start with what your business actually does

You deliver an empty skip

An empty-container delivery is not itself the receipt of a waste load. Keep the job, container and waste records clear.

You collect a loaded skip

Check where the waste is taken. Collecting waste and operating the receiving site are distinct roles; both may exist within the same business.

Your yard receives the load

Check whether that receiving activity and authorisation are in scope for the current national rollout. The later collector phase is a separate development.

Check the timetable for your receiving site

Phase 1 receiving-site reporting became mandatory in England and Wales on 1 October 2026. The published timetable gives Scotland and Northern Ireland a 1 January 2027 start. Scope and authorisations need to be checked against the relevant national guidance.

Scotland: check SEPA’s scope

SEPA identifies the receiving activities covered and important exclusions. Do not assume every exemption or registration is included.

Northern Ireland: follow DAERA’s updates

Prepare for the announced January start. At our 19 October review, the Assembly’s proposed-regulations page still showed the rule as in progress.

Follow the load from Yard to office

PaperRoute Skips connects day scheduling, container records, Yard observations and the wider PaperRoute receipt workflow. Demonstrate the complete handover with your team before deciding whether the system fits.

  1. 01

    Check the arrival

Review the returned skip and record the observed waste, weight and differences from the expected job.

  2. 02

    Review the receipt

Give the office the information needed to check the receipt and resolve missing or conflicting details.

  3. 03

    Check the reporting outcome

For an eligible configured connection, follow submission status and records needing attention. Saving a job or signing a WTN does not confirm acceptance.

PaperRoute Skips uses the PaperRoute platform. The government’s compatible-software list names PaperRoute under Saunders Simmons Ltd. We review site eligibility and connection setup with you; this is not a separate endorsement of the Skips brand by SEPA or NIEA.

Walk through a collection, an exchange and an exception

For a collection returning to your yard, identify the arriving load and who reviews it. For an exchange, distinguish the empty skip delivered from the loaded skip collected. If a load goes to another operator’s receiving site, confirm the destination and the information that receiving team needs.

Also review a load that differs from the booking and a receipt with missing information. Agree who resolves the discrepancy, follows the reporting result and covers the task during absence. These are example walkthroughs, not customer case studies.

Receiving-site readiness checklist

Practical preparation notes for your team. Tick the checks as you review them; your choices stay on this page and are not sent anywhere.

0 of 8 preparation checks reviewed

Completing this checklist is a preparation exercise, not a legal scope decision or a compliance certificate. Check current national guidance for the duties that apply to your site.

Spreadsheet or connected software?

The government provides a prescribed spreadsheet route as well as an API route. Choose against the work around each receipt, staff responsibilities and any wider scheduling, Yard, customer and invoicing needs.

Keep Phase 2 and your waste documents separate

The published plan places the collector public beta in spring 2027 and mandatory collector reporting in October 2027. PaperRoute is preparing its collection records as details develop. This page describes receiving-site work; it does not announce live Phase 2 submissions.
